Support
VeloCyRaptor is a one‑person project. If a ride didn't record right, a sensor won't connect, or something looks off, email me directly and I'll get back to you personally.
Get help
Email info@oberwalder.net with a description of the problem, your iPhone and Apple Watch models if relevant, and the sensor make/model if it's a connection issue. Screenshots help a lot.
Requirements
- An iPhone with a recent version of iOS.
- Apple Watch is optional, for the ride‑control companion and heart rate.
- Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) sensors are optional, for extra speed, heart rate, cadence, power, and calorie data.
My ride isn't tracking / the GPS route is missing
- Check Location permission: iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → VeloCyRaptor should be allowed while using the app.
- Make sure Location Services are switched on for your device overall.
- Start recording before you set off. Recording continues with the screen locked or another app in front; at the start of a ride iOS may ask whether VeloCyRaptor may always use your location, which helps it keep recording in the background.
- GPS accuracy can suffer in tunnels, dense forest, or between tall buildings; the route will pick back up once signal returns.
A Bluetooth sensor won't connect
- Confirm the sensor is Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) — some older ANT+‑only sensors aren't compatible.
- Wake the sensor first — most cadence, power, and speed sensors only start broadcasting once they detect motion, so give the pedals or wheel a spin before pairing.
- Make sure Bluetooth is switched on in iOS Settings.
- Disconnect the sensor from any other app or head unit first — most BLE sensors can only pair with one device at a time.
Apple Watch companion issues
- Make sure the VeloCyRaptor Watch app is installed and your Watch is paired and connected to your iPhone.
- If ride controls or heart rate aren't showing up, try force‑closing and reopening the Watch app.
Rides aren't appearing in Apple Health
- Open the Health app → your profile picture → Apps → VeloCyRaptor, and make sure the categories you expect (Workouts, Heart Rate, etc.) are turned on.
- Apple Health sync only applies going forward — a ride recorded before you granted permission won't retroactively appear.
Frequently asked questions
- Does VeloCyRaptor need an account? No — there's no sign‑up or login.
- How do I export a ride? Open the ride and use the export option to save it as a FIT file, then choose where to send it from iOS's share sheet.
- Does my ride data sync across my devices? Ride history is stored on the device you recorded it on; VeloCyRaptor doesn't sync it between your devices itself. If you use Apple Health with iCloud sync enabled, workouts written to Health follow Apple's own sync, independent of VeloCyRaptor.
- Is my data safe? Your rides stay on your device and, optionally, in Apple Health; your bikes, service items and tile layout can sync through your own iCloud account. There is no account and no server — see the privacy policy.
- How does auto‑pause work, and how do I turn it off? When you stop at a traffic light or take a break, VeloCyRaptor pauses your ride after 5 seconds below 5 km/h (about 3 mph) and resumes the instant you ride off, with a visible message and a haptic tap on iPhone and Apple Watch each time. You can switch auto‑pause off in Settings. If you pause a ride manually, it is never resumed automatically.
- How do I switch between kilometres and miles? Go to Settings › Units. Automatic follows your iPhone's region; Metric and Imperial override it. The choice also applies to Apple Watch and the Lock Screen. Only the display changes — rides are still recorded, stored in Apple Health and exported as FIT files in metric.
- How do service reminders work? In the Activities tab, open Bikes and add a service item to a bike — chain, tires, brake pads or a part of your own — with its interval. It turns amber shortly before it is due and red once overdue; reset it after the service. If you switch on notifications on the Bikes screen, you get a notification when a part becomes overdue. Rides count toward a bike by its name, so renaming a bike starts a new total.
